In order to ensure the best learning environment for our students,
the following standards for dress should be observed at Tucker Middle School:
- Students should maintain high standards of dress including neatness.
- Hats may not be worn in the building or carried in the hand. They must remain in the locker until bus dismissal.
- Shirts must remain tucked in at all times unless a blouse is designed to be worn outside.
Oversized shirts are not to be worn.
- Pants must be worn at the waistline. Students are required to wear a belt with garments designed for a belt. Hipster style jeans are not permitted.
- Shirts and blouses must completely cover the abdomen, back, and shoulders. (Midriff shirts and tank tops are inappropriate school attire). Shirts must still completely cover the midsection if a student raises his or hands in the air.
- Shorts, skirts, and dresses should be no shorter than two inches above the knee or at least two inches below fingertip length.
Clothing must not display offensive/vulgar language, gang affiliation, or advertise illegal or alcoholic products.
- Flip flops, shower-shoes, house slippers of any kind, and sandals without straps are unsafe school attire. Tennis shoes must be laced and tied at all times.
Clothing should not be tight, made of spandex material, or worn inappropriately such as one pant legged rolled up or worn inside-out, etc.
- The administrative staff reserves the right to determine if student dress interferes with the learning process. Parents will be called to bring students appropriate wear or the student may be placed in In-school Suspension (ISS) until a parent can be reached.
